This past week I went out to California to see my sister and to support my fiancée in a triathlon. It was a fabulous trip!!
Thursday night, my mom and I went to dinner at Pappadeux. They have an outside patio where they play live music on Thursday nights. They also have an amazing deal on peel and eat shrimp. And, I love shrimp! After dinner, my mom took me to the airport where my flight was delayed 2 hours! By the time I landed in San Diego it was 1 in the morning.

Friday was a girl’s day. My sister and I hit the town shopping and then tracked down a Nothing Bundt Cake Shop. She had been talking up this little shop since she had their cakes at a baby shower. They have all different flavors, sizes, and custom design options. We got 3 little ones to split- Chocolate Chocolate Chip, White Chocolate Raspberry, and Lemon. They all had cream cheese frosting that was perfectly drizzled down the sides. They are delicious! Surprisingly, lemon was definitely my favorite.

That night we met back up with the boys for dinner and headed to Ahi Sushi. It’s an awesome sushi restaurant and their happy hour is unbeatable- half price rolls!

The Happy Roll was my favorite. The name is so fitting- your mouth just smiles as you eat it!

Saturday was another girl’s day! We ditched the boys and grabbed some lunch at Boudin before heading to Temecula- Southern California’s wine country. I absolutely love wine! We visited several vineyards and enjoyed a tasting as well as a perfect afternoon together.

Next, my sister took me to her favorite winery, Wilson Creek. I think it’s my new favorite too!

They’re famous for their almond champagne. We grabbed a mini bottle and enjoyed it in the lawn area

They had a jazz saxophone player there and he just made the afternoon that much more enjoyable

If you’re ever by Temecula, make a stop in a vineyard or two. You won’t be disappointed!
Sunday was Ben’s big race. We were up bright and early at 5 to head down to San Diego to cheer him and Jeff, his roommate, on. They both did great and beat their goal times! Their hard work for the last 5 months paid off, that’s for sure.

My sister and Casey

On the way back down to my sister's house, we got a flat tire!

My sister and Casey, my brother in law, had a softball game that afternoon. Ben and I were there to cheer them on. They won by 10 runs!

That night we grabbed some dinner and headed for the beach for a picnic. I don’t know what it is with me and picnic weather, but I haven’t had the best of luck. It was pretty chilly, so we had blankets and hoodies.
The next morning, Casey took Ben and Jeff surfing. It was cold and rainy, so we grabbed some Starbucks before we met up with them.

Casey was the only one who could actually ride a wave

That afternoon, we headed to another vineyard, Orfila. What can I say, I love the wine. And just going to the vineyards is a fun experience. Orfila is a smaller winery and closer to my sister’s house.

To round out our trip we went to the Rockies/Padres game. The Rockies pulled out the win!
