My Birthday!!

I love birthdays. It’s a day that is all about you, celebrating how great you are. I love the mail and the presents. The phone calls and text messages. Yesterday was my 25th birthday and it was great. Ben and I took my new bike for a ride around Wash Park. It was great! And we tracked down the important traditional birthday donut! Here’s a few pics of the day. 25….it’s going to be a great year!
My sister got me a cute work out top and a picture of me running in my first half marathon. Great gift!!

Showing off my new running shoes from Ben. I think they’ll make me faster.

My new bike! She’s so pretty.

Ben looking forward to carrying my bike down the stairs for me

Out for a spin around Wash Park and loving every second!

Some creative photography.

A birthday isn’t a birthday without a chocolate donut!

Change

Change is pretty much inevitable. One of my favorite times of the year is when summer changes into fall. The leaves change colors and the days are brisk and cooler. There are child toys that change and transform into something else. People buy old cars and old houses and restore them. This sort of change is great because we are in control.
Change can be fun until it needs to happen in us. And then it’s not so fun. Sometimes we don’t believe that we can change. We’re afraid of what others might think of us, or what we might think of ourselves. You can’t say you want your life to go somewhere without being prepared on the inside to handle it. You can’t expect to live the abundant life that God has planned for you, without God preparing you for it.
God will break you and mold you into the person he wants you to be. The process is hard, but it is necessary.
I've learned that God won’t change you until you are committed to the change process. We usually want God to change our circumstances and other people, but we don’t want Him to change us. God wants to build wisdom, character, discipline, and persistence in us, but only if that is what we really crave. We have to take responsibility for our actions and our lives and ask God to change us.
In order for us the truly change, we need to reveal who we really are. Before God can do a great change in us, we have to claim our true identity. The minute we are willing to come clean of our true character is the minute God is going to come in and start making true change. God already knows who we really are; He just wants us to claim it. The great thing is, is that God knew what He got when He bought us with His Son! The Bible is full of people that had bad character but they made a huge impact for the Kingdom. And God will still use us despite all our flaws. He used Peter who was known for his big mouth. And Paul had a bad temper. Moses was a murder and Rahab was a prostitute. The question is do you have the courage to admit to God, and to yourself, who you really are?
When we truly realize we are children of God and we have been given His grace, we will start to live out of that identity. We will watch what comes out of our mouths and the way we treat others. We will be more responsible with our finances. We change the way we are living because we are committed to the change process until the end. And we want to live the life God wants for us.

We all have big changes in our lives that are more or less second chances.
