Saying Goodbye

Today is my last day working at Specialty Sports Venture. And to be honest, I'm not really that sad. When I left Wiens Capital Management last September, I was a a wreck. I was bawling my eyes out and deciding to leave was one of the hardest decisions I've had to make. It was my first real job and I made some really good friends there. I didn't make any real friends at SSV, and maybe that's why it's a lot easier to leave this time. Or maybe it's because they're letting me go instead of me leaving on my own. I think it's funny, or maybe a little awkward, that the people who acted like they really don't like you are always so nice to you on your last day. Why even put forth the effort?
Looking back I am glad I made the decision to work at SSV, even though it didn't last very long.
On a happier note, I'm going to my first Rockies game of the season tomorrow! And I can't wait!

Overwhelmed

Have you ever been so overwhelmed that you just broke down and cried??  That happened to me this past week.  I was talking to my grandma and our conversation turned into a conversation about family.  I was completely overwhelmed by the thought that my family would ANYTHING for me if I need it.
My grandma is the best grandma anyone could ask for.  She's actively involved in my life, even though she lives in Oklahoma.  She's one of the wisest people I know, and will give you great advice, wanted or not.  You can call her at 1 in the morning if you need to talk and she won't be mad.  She's always supportive and is there to encourage you along the way.  She makes an amazing Thanksgiving dinner, and gives the best back rubs.
Last week I went to church with my parents.  After the service I was talking to a lady that plays in the band with my dad.  She made a comment about what a great person my dad is and that she wished she had a dad like him when she was growing up.  You hear about kids who don't have dad's involved in their life.  I am so thankful I didn't have to experience this.  Growing up my dad was always there.  He would take me to basketball and volleyball practices at 6 in the morning.  He was a leader in our youth group.  He makes killer "super duper flip flop flapjacks" and root beer floats.  He takes me out on father-daughter dates just to talk and get caught up.  He'll listen to me vent.  He's easy to talk to and still surprises me with valentine's day gifts.
My mom is one amazing woman.  Growing up she never missed one of our events.  Ice skating practice, sports games, piano recitals, awanas, she was always there.  My mom is a great, but dangerous, shopping partner.  We talk just about every day.  She's the best person to have around when you're going through a hard time in life.  She is an amazing cook and a great friend.  She's there to  offer support and give a listening ear.
Earlier I posted about my sister.  She is one great sister, and friend.  She's always looking out for me, even though she's out in California.  She's a great person to laugh with, cry with, or just hang out and talk to.  She is so giving and always has your best interest at heart.
Sometime love can be overwhelming.  Especially when you realize how truly blessed you really are!

Macy's Flower Show

I just heard about this yesterday, and absolutely love the idea. Macy's is having a flower show!! Well, only in certain cities and of course Denver isn't one of them. The flower show has been going on since 1963 and is a way for Macy's to show appreciation to their customers. I think every store should have beautiful floral arrangements like this

New Job!!!

I GOT A NEW JOB!!!!! About a month ago, my boss told me I would be laid off at the end of April. Since that conversation I sent out 163 resumes and was beginning to feel like nobody wanted to hire me! Last Wednesday I went on an interview and on Friday afternoon, they offered me a position! Talk about fast!! I actually started this morning and am working part time between the new job and the old one for 2 weeks. The company is called Prima Marketing and they manage convenience stores on the east coast. There's only about 12 people in my office, so it's really quiet. But, we can wear jeans and flip flops every day if we want! It's super close to my house, only about 5 blocks and has 24 hour garage parking. My office is on the 22nd floor and the elevators go so fast that my ears pop every time! It's a block off of the 16th street mall, so if anyone wants to meet me for lunch, there's plenty of options!
I can honestly say that this job is a HUGE answer to prayer and a HUGE blessing. I was so stressed out, and even though everyone kept telling me God would take care of me, I was beginning to wonder what His plan was. Yes, our God is a great God!
On a side note, it rained yesterday. I absolutely love the rain! It makes me so happy! Ben, my dad, and I took KiKi for a walk in the rain and it was amazing! My grandma used to record thunder storms and send me the tapes. I would listen to those silly things when I would go to sleep or study.
I also started reading a new book called When Wallflowers Dance by Angela Thomas. She's the same woman that wrote Do You Think I'm Beautiful? which is one of my favorite books, so I'm excited to dig into this one!

My Favorite Ad

I have thunder thighs. And that's a compliment because they are strong and toned and muscular. And though they are unwelcome in the petite section, they are cheered on in marathons. Fifty years from now I'll bounce a grandchild on my thunder thighs and then go out for a run. Just Do It.

Friday Funny

A guy took his blonde girlfriend to her first football game. They had great seats right behind their team's bench. After the game he asked her how she like the experience. "Oh, I really like it," She replied, "especially the tight pants and all the big muscles, but I couldn't understand why they were killing each other over 25 cent.s"
Dumbfounded, her date asked, "What do you mean?"
"Well, they flipped a coin, one team got it and then for the rest of the game, all they kept screaming was 'Get the quarterback! Get the quarterback!' I'm like...Helloooo? It's only 25 cents!!!"

Things I've Learned Lately

*Job searching is exhausting! And frustrating. I've sent out tons of resumes and have only had one call back.
*It's tough to beat a rootbeer float in front of the fire with my dad.
*Colorado weather is crazy. In March, we went from a sunny high of 74 to a snowy high of 29. I'm ready for Summer!
*Sometimes going to bed at 8 is absolutely amazing!
*You can't always make other people happy. People have to decide for themselves to be happy.
*I have plenty of clothes in my closet and can live without shopping.
*Cereal for dinner is refreshing!
*Jay Cutler is a baby. And I hope he gets traded to the Lions. Or Raiders.
*Some of my best runs are the ones I really don't want to do.
*A little encouragement goes a long way.
*Some people have wierd names...Joost, Rickus, Trigano, Lothar
*It's better to schedule your priorities, not prioritize your schedule

Wednesday's Words of Wisdom

Use goals not as ends in themselves but as stepping stones.
