Weekend in Vegas

This weekend I went to Vegas!!! It was a blast. A big group of friends were planning on going, but I didn't think Ben and I would be able to make the trip. Ben had paid for the trip for us, and I got to surprise my sister by coming out and spending some time with her. It was so much fun!
The first day there, the 2 of us went our separate way from the group and got some shopping in! We found an amazing crepe place at the Bellagio.

They had this amazing running chocolate fountain!

My sister, about to enjoy her crepe

I think the look on my face tells you how excited I was!

Outside the Bellagio, ready to hit the shops

That night we hit up SeaBlue in the MGM Hotel. We watched some basketball and enjoyed lobster corn-dogs. They were pretty good!

The next day I hit up a restaurant in Palace Station with my sister's friends from Cali, Tina and Eric. We enjoyed a seafood pan roast....it's kind of like a seafood stew served with rice. It was delicious!!

After lunch, Tina took us to get an Asian tea. The bottom of the tea has tapioca pearls in it. You suck them up as you drink the tea! It's a weird sensation!! The pearls are kind of like tasteless gummy bears.

That night a bunch of us went and had dinner at Margaritaville.

The Colorado Crew

The next morning we went to breakfast at Hash House A Go Go. It was absolutely amazing!! I highly recommend it to anyone! It's been featured on several tv shows. I love breakfast so I was pumped to go check it out.

The portions were huge!!! But so, so good! I had blueberry pecan pancakes with lots and lots of syrup. Delicious!

To round out our trip, we spent the afternoon by the pool. We had dinner at a Japanese restaurant, similar to Bennihana where the chef prepares your meal in front of you. We ended the evening by watching several water shows at the Bellagio.
It was such a great trip!!

March Madness and Other Tidbits

Today kicks off March Madness! I'm so excited. I love this time of the year! There are so many basketball games to watch...the upsets, the Cinderella teams, the buzzer beaters. Ah, it's so great! After taking a year off, I'm back in a pool and really hope my bracket wins. I could take home a good chunk of change if I do! Wish me luck!

I found a new place to get blogger backgrounds! My friend from middle school, Melinda, has a really cute one and it led me to Smitten. They have some really cute designs, and best of all, they're free!

I'm back to running on a more consistent basis. My stomach has been giving me so many problems lately, I put running on hold for a bit. Well, my stomach isn't getting any better so I'm back to running. I have the biggest love/hate relationship with running. I am planning on doing 2 races this year. The Bolder Boulder in May and the Estes Park Half Marathon in June.

I've started keeping a gratitude/encouragement notebook. I write down something in it everyday- whether it's small things I'm grateful for, kind words of encouragement I've received, or the highlight of my day. I have a tendency of holding onto the negative and letting the good things slip through unnoticed. My new plan is to look back through it every now and then and be encouraged and realize how blessed I really am.

The wedding planning is coming along fabulously! The flowers are about the only big item I have left to figure out. I (finally) asked all of my girls to be my bridesmaids. And they are the best girls! My sister is my matron of honor. Dez, who I used to work with, and Erin and Shiloh, who I met through Ben are my bridesmaids. Only 200 days to go!

Fun Facts of the Day

Have you ever checked out the website shine? It’s addicting. It has articles on everything from fashion to health and fitness to relationships and everything in between. It’s a great website to check out if you’re bored at work!
Here are some fun facts that I learned today…
~The average woman spends $13,000 on cosmetics during her lifetime!
~City workers in Detroit can no longer wear perfumes or other smelly toiletries to work, including deodorant. A woman sued the city claiming a coworker’s perfume made it difficult for her to breathe and do her job. She won $100,000!
~A mother of 2 has the goal of weighing 1,000 pounds. She currently owns the Guinness Book of Records for being the world’s biggest mother at 601 pounds.
~A restaurant in New York City has a new cheese appetizer that is made from breast milk! Disgusting.
~Adding lemon juice to your dishwasher detergent can help boost it’s grease cutting power.

What Don't You Know

Yesterday I was asked the question “Tell me something you don’t think Ben knows about you yet but you hope he’ll find out.” That is a tough question! I’d like to think Ben knows most things about me at this point! But it got me thinking, what don’t people know about you? I thought it would make a good blog post. So here it goes…..

~I always light a candle when I get home from work
~I usually wear my hair in a ponytail. I think it makes my face look thinner!
~I have to have background music on when I read…otherwise it makes me feel a little lonely
~Pancakes are my favorite breakfast food. Especially chocolate chip ones!
~I vacuum my mattress to make sure I don’t have dust mites
~I prefer my toilet paper to go over rather than under
~I wear my watch on my right hand even though I’m right handed
~I eat pudding with graham crackers and not a spoon
