Memories

Most people I know are lucky if they still have their grandparents around.I have been fortunate enough to have great- grandparents around. Yesterday my great grandma passed away, and they expect my great grandpa to follow her in the next few days. Although we were never very close, I always thought it was cool that I they were still alive.I thought I would share some of my favorite memories with you.
~Going out to their farm on the 4th of July and riding around in their tractor. Playing volleyball and swinging on the wood swing that wrapped around a huge tree.
~Going into my grandma’s greenroom and trying to find the plants she named after us
~They used to always get us the same Christmas gift when we were little- a Christian cassette tape and socks with the rubber on the bottom so we couldn’t slide around on the floor.
~My grandma loved pink and had the most awful shade of pink bathroom
~ We used to always go hide out in their study and play with their marbles to avoid the boring grown-up conversations
~And, my favorite memory, they used to stock up on Arby’s roast beef sandwiches when they were on special 5 for $5.95. They used to stick the extra sandwiches in their freezer!

My First Wedding Cake

This weekend I had the honor of doing a wedding cake for my friend, Tracy.  35 hours, and not a lot of sleep later, it's all finished!  I'll post more pictures of the actual process later, but here is the final product!

Dez's BBQ

Last night my good friend, Dez, had a bbq and she gave me the honor of making the cake!  Dez has been so supportive and encouraging with my whole cake business idea and someday she's going to be marketing lady.  To find all of the picture of my cakes in progress, click here.  It was a perfect night for a bbq and there was great food, and great company.

I love weekends

I love the weekends, and this one ranked right up there.  Yesterday, I went hiking up in Rocky Mountain National Park with my parents.  We hiked a little over 5 miles and it was a perfect day for it.  We stopped for dinner at my favorite little Italian joint, Mama Rosa's.  It's patio is right off the river.  We got carmel apples for dessert, a tradition when going up to Estes.  Today, Ben and I went for our first spin on our cruisers together.  We headed over to Devil's Food for some brunch and then went over to Wash Park.
