Augustana+Counting Crows+Red Rocks is Amazing

Last night Ben and I went to the Counting Crows and Augustana concert. And it was AWESOME!! It was pouring down rain for most of the show, but it was so much fun. The 2 bands played together for almost 3 hours. And it just doesn't get any better than Red Rocks. I've heard that the Counting Crows no longer play Mr. Jones in concert anymore. But, they did last night as part of the encore! And, of course, Augustana didn't disappoint! Here's a little taste of what the whole evening was like...
By the time we left our legs were numb, our hands were like ice, and our clothes were soaked, but it was so worth it!
All of the equipment covered in rain gear
We're so excited!
Augustana and Counting Crows.  So great!!
The famous Red Rocks
The rock behind the stage was really purple and it looked really cool.

Denver loves us

This week is week is Downtown Denver Employee Appreciation Week. And, let me tell ya, Downtown really appreciates their employees! You can check out a full calendar of all of the happenings here, but, here are some of the highlights. There are bands playing, there’s free coffee giveaways, and it’s regular 12 oz sized coffees, not just the little sample sizes! There are ice cream socials, $5 brown bag lunch deals from great restaurants, and great happy hour deals! Several of the athletes from our sports teams are coming out and Kaiser Permanente is giving free chair massages.
Who doesn’t want to work downtown??

A Little of This and That

*My half training program started today.  One day down, about 90 to go.
*Sometimes I run out of things to blog about.
*I feel like I am constantly training on new stuff at work.  Which is great, but a little overwhelming at times.
*I don't really understand lacrosse.  Except, it's real exciting when they whack each other with their sticks.
*Mark who was on the bachelorette with Jillian, has a new pizza joint in Denver.  It's take out only with NO place to sit.  LAME.
Which leads me to....
*Finding a sit down pizza joint at 9:00 on a Saturday night that has room for 6 is a lot harder than you would think!
*I just found out I get to spend Thanksgiving with my fabulous sister and brother in law.  It's been at least 4 years since that's happened.
*I found the perfect place for my cake shop...right next to Starbucks and a few blocks off of Wash Park.  If only I had a few extra thousands of dollars lying around.
*I have paid off 1 credit card and another scheduled to be paid off in August. It's so nice to finally see this whole budget thing paying off.
*I'm going out to California to visit my sister in 10 1/2 weeks.  Can't Wait!!
*Last November, I was so disappointed when one of my favorite bands, Augustana, didn't show up to play at a concert.  They're playing at Red Rocks on Wednesday with the Counting Crows, and we have tickets!!  If they don't show up this time, my fanship is done.    Stay tuned....

Happy (Belated) Birthday, Babes

Thursday was Ben's 27th birthday. And, although, i doubt he'll ever see this since he isn't much of the blogging type, I thought I'd still post some birthday wishes!
For his birthday we threw a small bbq with just Ben's closest friends. And it was a lot of fun! We played a lot of lawn bags, grilled some food, and ended the night laying in the grass looking at the clouds and stars.
As most of you know, I love cruising around Wash Park. So what better gift than a cruiser of his very own! This way we can actually ride together when we go for a spin! (His road bike is too fast for me, and my little legs don't go that fast to keep up!)
I didn't have my camera at the bbq, but I'll post some pictures of us riding bikes together!

Happy Anniversary

Today marks the 40th anniversary of Apollo 11's trip to the moon. Neil Armstrong uttered the infamous phrase "One small step is one giant leap for mankind." I was lucky enough to encounter Neil at my Cousin's wedding 2 years ago. Happy Anniversary, Neil!

Oh, Ben!

I have such a thoughtful boyfriend! Ben and some friends are heading out to Vegas for the weekend to see Meese in concert. Ben went to college with a lot of the Meese memebers, and his roommate is their tour manager. I've been bummed these past few days because he's going to Vegas....without me! This morning we grabbed some coffee before he took off, and he totally surprised me. He bought me a giftcard to get a massage! AND, he put together a little care package with movies, wine, and snacks! I've already scheduled my massage for Friday after work. Can't wait!!

Wednesday's Words of Wisdom

Love yourself, for who and what you are; protect your dream and develop your talent to the fullest extent.
~Joan Benoit Samuelson

4th of July

Our 4th was pretty laid back this year.  We played some lawn bags and grilled out before we climbed up on the roof to watch some fireworks.  Check out our sweet American flag shades...gotta love the dollar section at Target!

Since it was a full moon, I was secretly hoping Johnny Depp would come find me in his Pirate's outfit.
