Cycling!

This weekend was jam packed with festivities, and it was all a lot of fun! Sunday the Pro Cycling Challenge was back in town. I went last year for the opening stage, and this year, Ben and I made it out for the final stage. It's so much fun! And i'm glad that this year Ben got to join in the craziness.

Ben and I out at City Park. We went for the for the final time trial stage and our spot was about a mile from the finish line.

Jens Voigt. He's my absolute favorite. Check out my crazy husband running along side and ringing a cowbell!

Tejay Van Garderen. He won the best young rider in the Tour de France this year. He finished 2nd overall in this race.

The winner! Christian Vande Velde. His team is based in Boulder. Going into the final stage he was in 2nd. He made up time to take the win!

Levi Leipheimer. He won the race last year, unfortunately he lost the lead and finished in 3rd. Check out the hubs in the background really cheering him on!

Ben's 30th!

Ben has been talking about how excited he was to turn 30 for about a year. I wanted to do something special for him so it would live up to his expectations. I threw a party at the house for just the 2 of us.
I decorated the house before he came home from work. It's been a LONG time since i blew up balloons!

A birthday party isn't complete without the party hats!

For dinner we had the 7 cheese pizza from McKinners. It's our favorite pizza joint in Littleton. The cheese pizza tastes like mac 'n cheese!!

Ice cream cake! Pam bought these great candles for Ben and they worked out perfectly!

Present time! Bocce set. Such a fun lawn game!

Present inside a present. Ben is the best present guesser ever. He's annoyingly good. He can pick up a present, shake it a bit and tell you exactly what's in it. I was so proud of myself this year- I completely tricked him! I think i wrapped about 7 presents inside this one

Totally worth the unwrapping. The new Garmin forerunner touch screen.
Happy 30th Ben! I hope it's the best year yet!

Things I Love Lately

~The Olympics. I love the competition, the touching back stories, new records, and down to the wire finishes. I love that women are representing their country for the very first time in the Olympics. And I love this crazy celebration dance
~Hints of fall. It’s just around the corner! Bath and Body Works has their fall scents out, the mornings are cooler, and preseason football has begun!
~The Happy Sumo. It has super cute décor, delicious sushi, and ridiculously good deals if you’re a vip member
~My neon. I’ve had that car for 11 years now and I love it. We’ve been through a lot together- accidents, road trips, parking tickets, and breakups- but she still runs like a charm. I love when I get to steal her away from Ben for a few days
~Nike headbands. I used to just use bobby pins until I saw a lot of the Olympic track girls wearing these bands. They do a great job keeping the hair back and out of the way
~Zio’s. It was my favorite restaurant in college and Ben and I went recently down in the
Springs. Heavenly!
~Fruit and yogurt parfaits. I’ve started making these for breakfast and I finally have them
down! The first few were not good. Quick, easy, nutritious, and delicious!
~Massages. It’s been a while since I’ve had a massage. But, they are SO nice!!!!
~Finding new apps for my phone. I’ve downloaded some great cooking, fitness,
and devotional apps recently. Plus, it’s fun to squeeze in a quick game of Angry Birds
~Palisade peaches. I don't know what they do to make them so delicious, but they are!

Wednesday's Words of Wisdom

Greatness. It’s just something we made up. Somehow we come to believe that greatness is a gift reserved for a chosen few. For prodigies. For superstars. And the rest of us can only stand by watching. You can forget that. Greatness is not some rare DNA strand. It’s not some precious thing. Greatness is no more unique to us than breathing. We are all capable of it, all of us.

Brown Paper Packages

Earlier I had posted about how I love decorating brown paper for presents. These are what I did for Ben's birthday. They were so fun to decorate!

This one I did for Pam, my mother-in-law's, birthday
