MS 150

This last weekend Ben rode the MS 150. In 2 days they went from Westminster up to Ft. Collins and back, covering 150 miles. Ben's mom has MS, so his parents came out here to be apart of the weekend. We drove the same course the bikers were doing, and some of those hills were intense!! There were over 3,000 riders who participated this year and last time I checked they raised $2.9 million. It was a fun weekend, and everyone who participated should be so proud of themselves. Job well done!!

A Little Disturbing....

I received an email today that really rubbed me the wrong way. It's one of those stupid forwards, that i never forward on. This is what it said....
" 1 Kings 8:23 'A blessing is coming to you in the form of money.' Do not ask questions just forward to eight people and TRUST GOD! These are money bags, send them to 8 good people and you will receive money in 4 days. I'm not joking. Delete and be broke in 2009."
REALLY??
The thing that bothers me about this stupid forward, is how they twisted the verse. I looked up 1 Kings 8:23 and this is what is says, "O Lord, the God of Israel, there is no God like You in heaven above or on earth below. You keep your promise of mercy to your servants who obey you wholeheartedly."
What a great verse!! But no where in that verse does it say that God will bless you with money. I believe God wants to bless us but He wants to bless us for being faithful to Him, and not for passing on a ridiculous email.
Thanks for letting me vent.

A Little Friendly Competition

My dad and I have a little friendly competition going on to see who can have the biggest weight loss percentage. The loser owes the winner a chocolate cake. Ironic, I know, but hey, it'll be a great reward!! I've hit a weight loss plateau, and my dad has been trying to lose weight for a while, so what better way to motivate each other, than to compete!? Wish me luck, and if you know of any great weight loss tips, pass them along!

Friday Funny

A Bottle Of Wine

Sally was driving home from one of her business trips in Northern Arizona when she saw an elderly Navajo woman walking on the side of the road.
As the trip was a long and quiet one, she stopped the car and asked the Navajo woman if she would like a ride.
With a silent nod of thanks, the woman got into the car.
Resuming the journey, Sally tried in vain to make a bit of small talk with the Navajo woman.  The old woman just sat silently, looking intently at everything she saw, studying every little detail, until she noticed a brown bag on the seat next to Sally.
"What in bag?" asked the old woman.
Sally looked down at the brown bag and said, "It's a bottle of wine.  I got it for my husband."
The navajo woman was silent for another moment or two.  Then speaking with the quiet wisdom of an elder, she said, "Good trade...."

Random Thoughts and Updates

I don't really have anything new and exciting to blog about, so here's just some random going ons in my life...
*My parents are in California right now and went to Disneyland today.  I'm completely jealous.
*I was hired on at my new job as a temp to hire.  My temp period was supposed to be up at the end of July, but yesterday, my boss told me they've decided to buy out my contract and hire me!  YAY!!  That means, a pay raise, and I'll get the 4th of July off, with pay.
*I sponsor a kid through Compassion International.  They sent out an email saying they've sponsored a million kids.  That's awesome!
*The "green peace" people drive me nuts!!  I hate how I can't even walk down the street at work without getting attacked.  And, all they want is your money.  $20 a month, actually.
*KiKi is the best snuggler of a dog ever.  She curls up around your legs and makes it so hard to get up in the mornings.
*Mini cakes are SO much more time consuming that regular cakes.
*I can't stand the Lakers.
*I love the thunder storms that shake the walls.
*I've come to realize it's a lot easier to gain things than it is to lose them....pounds and debt especially.
*I made a fun little birthday cake for the office tomorrow.  Hopefully they'll be impressed with my baking skills.

Cakes, Cakes, and More Cakes

This weekend was packed full of baking! I was doing cakes for a party for my friend Tracy who is getting married in August. I started baking Saturday morning around 10:30 and didn't go to bed until 2 in the am. And I still wasn't done!! I was COMPLETELY exhausted!! I was so excited to go to bed and get some good zzz's. Unfortunately, I had cake nightmares. I was dreaming that my already frosted cakes were melting, and all of the frosting was sliding off. It was horrible!! Thankfully, the frosting was still in tact. I finished with about 40 minutes to spare! But, the good news, everyone LOVED them. Such a relief!! And, such a fun get together!
