0-2??

Last night Ben and I went to the Nuggets game. We went to this particular game because they were playing the Atlanta Hawks, and Mike Bibby plays for the Hawks. I've had a little thing for Bibby since his college days at Arizona back in '98. I was so excited for this stupid game because it would be the first time for me to see him in person. Pregame shoot around, No Bibby. Starting lineup announced, No Bibby. Of course, of all games for him to not play in, it had to be the game I was at. Supposedly he was sick or something. I was so, so bummed! The game was a good one and we had good seats, so the night was a complete bust. And, we got free Nuggets umbrellas! Earlier, I posted about Augustana, my favorite band, not showing up to a concert we went to. At this rate, I'm never going to anything again!!

Wednesday's Words of Wisdom

Don't dwell on what you lack; dwell on what you have and use it to the fullest with gratitude. Don't dwell on your failures-learn from them and move on. Don't dwell on your fears or sorrows- dwell on your hopes.

Gym Peeves

Since the first of the year, I've been going to the gym on a more consistent basis. And there are things that people do at the gym that just drive me absolutely nuts!! I told Ben some of my "gym peeves" and he just said he doesn't really pay attention to other people when he works out. Well, he's a guy, and really, how can you not? Here are my ultimate gym peeves. And if you have any you'd like to add, I'd love to hear them!
When people don't wipe down their machines when they're done. Call me crazy, but most people work up a sweat when they work out. And nobody wants to get on a sweat soaked machine. It has to be unsanitary or something!
The clompers and stompers. These are the people who get on a treadmill and don't know how to run. Either they turn the speed up too high and can't keep up, or they just can't hear themselves stomping.
Chatty Neighbors. I'm all for being friendly and small talk, except for when I'm actually working out. Especially when I have headphones in. Working out is a time for me to clear my head and get rid of stress...If I don't act interested in talking, then I'm not interested. It's like awkward airplane situations.
People who go to the gym only to get picked up on or to pick up on others. You can totally tell who these people are. The girls with the perfect hair and make up with the dress to impress gym outfit. And the guys who walk around and don't do much except that. They check you out from across the room and generally just make you uncomfortable.
The Runner-overers. These are the people who will literally take you out if you get in their way. Especially if it's a crowded class.
The Naked Locker Room walkers. In my experience, these are always the old, overweight women. A little modesty goes a long way!
Cell Phone Talkers. It's so strange to me when people talk on their phone while they're working out. Can't you put it down for at least 30 minutes?! Especially when you're occupying equipment.
The Jean Wearer. Enough said.

Friday Funny

An Amish boy and his father were in a mall. They were amazed by almost everything they saw, but especially by two shiny, silver walls that could move apart and then slide back together again. The boy asked, "What is this Father?" The father, having never seen an elevator, responded, "Son, I have never seen anything like this in my life. I don't know what it is." While the boy and his father were watching with amazement, an overweight old lady in a wheel chair moved up to the moving walls and pressed a button. The walls opened and the lady rolled between them into a small room. The walls closed and the boy and his father watched the small circular numbers above the walls light up sequentially. They continued to watch until it reached the last number and then the numbers began to light in the reverse order. Finally the walls opened up again and a gorgeous 24-year old blonde stepped out. The father, not taking his eyes off the young woman, said quietly to his son, "Go get your mother."

Wednesday's Words of Wisdom

Don't be afraid, I've redeemed you. I've called you by name. You're Mine. When you're in over your head, I'll be there with you. When you're in rough waters, you will not go down. When you're between a rock and a hard place, it won't be a dead end- Because I am God, your personal God, The Holy of Israel, your Savior. I paid a huge price for you...That's how much you mean to Me! That's how much I love you! I'd sell off the whole world to get you back, trade the creation just for you.
~Isaiah 43:2-4
